Dealing with your 'kit'

I've bagged up most of the parts needed for this project; make sure you have a 'kit', a breadboard, an IC chip and a good workspace. Empty out the kit and separate the parts by type. Note that there are some small parts - please don't lose them!

We are going to start by setting up the power to the breadboard (using the battery pack) and inserting the IC chip. You will want to set up the board to match the following illustration:

In order to make sure that we are set up properly, I am going to go around the room and verify the power connection is correct - it's that important!!!
