Creating the Third Routing

The third routing is pretty simple - it just connects the positive power rail to the top-right chip pin:

This is a good opportunity to notice something about transferring circuits from diagram to reality. Because the author is trying to make the circuit diagram very clear, complex routings in the diagram can be quite simple in the real world:

Now, take the potentiometer and place it as shown on the board. You will probably have to bend out the ears of the component in order to sit properly on the board:
